The State of Vermont is hoping for fall traveling dollars. The state can easily boast of the most magnificent fall colors in the country. To exemplify that thought, a new group has formed. They are calling themselves, ‘The Vermont Foliage Force’.
The group was formed with the sole intention of drawing travelers from all over the country to Vermont’s tony towns to take in the beautiful fall colors and scenery. The group is comprised of local Vermont businesses and Tourist representatives. They want people to know that a month after, Hurricane Irene swept through the state, the roads are open, and deals are huge, and the colors are brilliant. The group wants visitors to know that most of Vermont was completely unaffected by Irene. However to get the word out, that everything is open and ready for visitors, they are offering up great deals on hotels, restaurants and events planned for the fall season. This time of year draws a total of 23% of all tourists to the area. They come during the time when their leaves are at their peak, which is only about six weeks. Visitors to Vermont during that 6 week period spend an average of 330 million dollars. A lot of events for Labor Day were cancelled due to Irene, so the group is hoping to gain back some of those loses by putting the word out that the foliage is expected to be really spectacular this year, because of the rain fall. The festival that is prevalent this time of year, will be fun and exciting in Vermont. It’s OktoBrewFest from October 8th-9th. The micro brews will be returning along with authentic delicious German and Austrian cuisine. The Vermont Foliage Force, says that the great expected colors of fall, and great deals that are available for visitors to the area.
